3 Stress Management Strategies to Use When Dealing with Business Start-up Stress

Starting a business can be an exciting adventure and at the same time opens the door for a lot of stress if you’re not ready or have a plan set in place to cope with all of the requirements needed to get your business set up and ready for business. Putting together a detailed business plan and research may feel like a mentally exhausting process but is still an essential part of your business start-up as it gives you clarity and direction.

Stress Management Strategy #1 – Relax

Relaxing does not mean being passive and do nothing. It only means to do what can be and must be done at a steady consistent pace minus the stress and frustration. If you begin to feel tension, stop, close your eyes, take a few deep cleansing breaths, relax your mind and get back to the task at hand. Or if you can, move away from the material, go for a walk to clear your head and regroup. When you get back you’ll feel refreshed and more creative in your approach.

Stress Management Strategy #2 – Divide your project into smaller portions

Instead of trying to get your entire business plan completed or do all of your research in one day, make a list of all your projects and divide each project into smaller more manageable sections. Assign days on which you will complete each project and then follow your plan. Things become overwhelming if you’re looking at the entire project and thinking how the heck you’re going to get it all done. One step at a time consistently will get you there sooner than you think. You’ll find your journey more productive and enjoyable if you go the way of having a manageable plan.

Stress Management Strategy #3 – Get help

You do not have to do everything all on your own. Learning to delegate certain tasks can help you tremendously in making this process less stressful as possible. For example, finding a competent accountant to take care of your bookkeeping and taxes can eliminate one more thing you have to think about when running a business. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run especially if you don’t know how to management your own books. What else can you delegate? What competent individuals in your list of contacts – whether family or friends – can you delegate some of your tasks so you can focus on what you do best?

Are You Enjoying the Journey to Bring out the Unique In You?

Are you feeling like you want everything in your life to be perfect right now? You know the saying, “Rome was not built in a day.” So stop being so hard on yourself. Life is a journey, not necessarily a destination. And on this journey you go through many processes of change and growth. Instead of always looking for the next big thing to happen in your life, learn to appreciate and cherish each moment. Look for the miracles in each moment. For all these life occurrences are intricately woven together to bring out the unique in you.

Today's Unique Feature

Each week in this ‘Bringing Out the Unique in You’ training series I’ll be showcasing Unique Hand-crafted Items all created and designed by my daughters and me.

These are one of a kind; no two items are ever the same and you’ll not find these in stores anywhere. Each item is specifically designed to bring out the unique in you.

When you purchase one of these items for yourself or for a special person in your life, use this as a symbol to be reminded each day of how unique you are.

Each unique crocheted item takes patience and relaxation to allow the flow of creativity to inspire and manifest into a unique design. If I am impatient as I create the design, then nothing is accomplished in this process. Each colour is carefully chosen to make sure they fit together in a beautiful blend. Each row is patiently crocheted together building the design one stitch and one row at a time until it reaches completion.

The Master Designer of your life has a great plan for you, even more beautiful than you could have ever imagined it could be. But you can only discover this beauty and enjoy the process when you become flexible in the Master Designer’s hands just as the yarn relaxes into my own. You must trust the process of creativity from the Great Mind of the Universal power.

You are more than yarn. You matter. You are important. Trust and be patient with your own development and go with the flow of the Spirit each hour of every day. Your life will be so much better if you let go and let the Master Designer unfold the beauty that’s already inside of you.

Stop trying to make it all happen all at once. You were not born today and became the man or woman you are now tomorrow. It took time. Every great thing or accomplishment took a process of time – each day a measure of that growth occurred until, before you knew it, you’re all grown up. The same process occurs with your spiritual and mental growth. But it’s worth every step and each day matters, and the cumulative growth brings the results you have now in your life.

Do You Really Need a Business Plan for Your Business?

Preparing a business plan may seem like a long drawn out drudgery process, however, taking the time to create a business plan helps you get clarity on the direction you want your business to go so you can make your goals achievable. It helps you dig deep into the details of your business, why you want to do what you do, what qualities and qualifications you bring to the table, see what more knowledge, information and system(s) you need to have and put in place to effectively operate your business.

Without a properly written business plan, you’ll be in the dark without a clear direction, thus setting yourself up for failure from the get go. With everything you do you need to have a plan of execution. Often time things may not always work out as you initially planned but the fact that you do have a plan in place you’ll more likely take action and keep pressing forward to achieve your goals making necessary changes as you move forward.

But this is where you’ll learn to revise your plan and business strategies to effectively meet the desires of your customers which will also help you to reach your business goals as well.

Have you worked out how much money you’d like to make per year? What steps will you take to achieve that? How will you price your product or services that will help you reach that goal? How much of your products or services will you need to sell to reach your financial goals? How will you reach your potentials customers? What will be your advertising strategy to bring customers to your place of business or website? Have you completed a financial statement? How will you track your profit and loss? These are the essentials details that you will go into and uncover when you complete a business plan.

Sounds like a lot of work? Yes it is but it’s well worth it to save you a lot of start-up and business pitfalls and give you daily, weekly, monthly and yearly action steps to follow to keep you on track. As stated earlier, you can revise your business plan and it is strongly recommended that you do review and revise your plans with the necessary changes and adjustments that you will observe over time. Some things you will add to your business and others you will eliminate as they may prove to be ineffective for your business success.

This handbag is mainly black with earth tone –dark brown, brown, beige and off-white. The black may represent your current troublesome situation. You can’t see your way out and you may wonder if you’ll ever get through this.

The white signifies that even in the darkest of times a glimmer of hope always presents itself letting you know that you are not alone, that you will get through this and you’ll come out even stronger than when you first encountered this problem.

Don’t let your focus remain on your troublesome condition but look to the glimmer of hope that’s given to you, even though it may seem small at the time. Even small droplets of hope when you put your focus on and appreciate can begin to expand the seed of endless possibilities in your life.

The earth tones show your connection to Mother Earth and the Universal provision that belongs to you on planet earth. You have a divine heritage of abundance, health and wholeness and you are well cared for. No matter where your journey on planet earth takes you, you have at your disposal the Universal power working with you, in you and through you.

A starry night lets you remember the vastness of the universe and as the stars twinkle in the dark backdrop sky you learn to focus on the beauty even though surrounded by darkness. A moonlit night makes a late evening walk a delight and makes the path clearer for a peaceful stroll.

Do you think that you can apply these same principles to your situation right now? Instead of focusing on the problem, look for the twinkle star of hope that reminds you of the vastness of the universal power at your disposal. With your thoughts, you can sow new thoughts seed to begin to transform your current situation into hope.

The earth, the stars and moon have a special message that’s unique to you and to your current situation. Look for them.

Quiet your mind that the soil of the earth may show you the way out. Or maybe your message may come from the flowers or busy insects or the trees. Perhaps the twinkling of the stars may speak to you with each flicker or the moonbeam may light the way in such subtlety and show you the path you should take.

Establishing, Legalizing Your Business and Getting Known

Schedule Your Free 30-Minute No Obligation Self-Empowerment Session

Before you can fully establish your business there are some legal steps you must take to secure yourself in your position in the market place. You have a legal obligation and responsibility to ensure that you have taken the necessary steps to do what is required for your business by law. Once you’ve completed all the legal stuff, then you want to get the word out about your business so the people who need or desire your service or products are aware of the solution you have to offer them.

Researching and Choosing a Business Name

A business name should reflect what you do for your clients. It should be catchy and easy to remember as well as in alignment with what you’re doing. For example, if you are a starting a craft business, naming your business John Smith and Associates may not be such a good name as it gives a different impression about your business. Someone may think it’s more to do with something legal, like if you’re a law firm or so. Do some research in your industry, look at what names are on the market and use that to come up with something that expresses to your potential customers what you’re about.

Registering your business name

Once you decided on a business name it’s time to get it registered. It’s a good idea to come up with a few variations just in case the one you decided is already registered by someone else. However, before you register your name you need to decide your business structure – if you are in business alone you’d register as a sole proprietor.

If you’re in business with someone else, you’d want to register your business as a partnership. If you want to separate yourself from your business, you may want to consider registering as a corporation. Planning on setting up a non-for-profit organization? Then register as a society. Consider registering as a co-operative if your business is owned and controlled by your customers. Keep in mind that if you are using your own name as your business name, like Jane Smith Knitting Company, you may not need to register your business name.

Business licence

You’re required to place your business licence in a prominent area of your place of business whether you work from home or own a physical store. However, some areas do not require that you have a business licence. It all depends on where you live. So you need to check your local business licence office or City Hall to see if you require one.

Zoning laws

Zoning laws allow and/or forbid a business owner from operating their business in certain areas. Depending on the type of business you’re setting up, zoning laws may prevent you from operating around a residential area if your products require the use of noisy or potentially hazardous equipment or material. It’s important that you check your local business office to verify if you can operate the type of business you’re starting in the area of choice.

Having an online presence

Once you’ve taken care of the legal stuff and laid the foundation it’s time to get known, not only locally but having an online presence may benefit your business in a lot of ways. Having an online presence helps you stay in contact with your customers and help potential customers find your products and services.

Having an online presence also opens the door for networking possibilities and alliances in other parts of your country or globally that you’d not reach otherwise. Even though you make have a physical local building, being established online in today’s market sets you apart from other businesses and positions you as a forward thinking leader in your industry. Social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, is a great way to begin and extend your online reach.

You also want to purchase a domain name and set up a website where your customers can view your product and services as well as offer the opportunity for your potential customers to make that connection with your business as well.

Recognizing and Understanding Your Unique Life Patterns and What They Mean

Your unique life patterns contain powerful messages that show you if you’re on the right track or not. But the only thing is if you are not observing and paying attention to those patterns, you miss the lesson. When you think that everything is going chaotic in your life, it may be the sign to show you that a major positive change is about to take place to get you from the rut you find yourself in to a place of honour and hopefulness.

Elegant Ladies' Crocheted Handbag

Beige yarn with multi-coloured stripes.

Made from 100% acrylic yarn
13 3/4" high
10 1/2" wide

Sale Price:$60.00

**Item takes approximatetly 10 shipping days.

When you misread your life patterns, your actions that follow out of your fear and frustration can throw your life plan into a muddle and take a longer time to get you back on track. Each change in your life pattern has a purpose to bringing you the final beautiful orderly outcome in your life.

Instead of reacting in frustration to situations that may be frustrating and disappointing, change your perspective and ask, “What’s the lesson here for me? What’s the direction should I be going in?”

Let’s use today’s feature item as an example. The featured ladies’ handbag has a beige stripe pattern happening, then it changes to a multi-coloured pattern then back to beige again. At the top you have a multi-coloured pattern for the handle. The beige pattern may represent your order and direction. It’s simple and consistent. But suddenly your life takes on a different turn of events; multi-coloured as you will – a little beige with blue, purple and pink blend. In your life pattern you may see this as so many things coming to you all at once.

At first glance, it does not make sense. It may seem chaotic in comparison with the consistent predictable ‘beige’ in your life. But as you notice, each change in the handbag pattern ultimately leads to a final elegant design.

At times when I’m creating a design, if it’s not coming out the way I intended, I may unravel a part of the design and come up with a new style that I feel satisfied with.

You may sometimes feel that your life is unravelling so fast that you can’t keep up.You need to trust the design of the Great Universal Creator; that all occurrences in your life are part of the grand design and form the intricate tapestry that will produce a beautiful life for you. As you relax into all that the Creator has for your life, you’ll find it all comes together quickly and easily though intricate each detail of your life.

Each pattern I create, I carefully release and allow the Spirit to guide my creativity and bring to life a unique pattern – not a copy from another pattern – but a unique piece, no duplicate.

And that’s how your unique life patterns are created to express the beauty of you on planet earth. So the next time you feel that your life is spiraling out of control, trust the process; the grand design will unfold in due time.

Developing and Testing Your Business Idea in 3 Steps

So you decided that you want to go into business for yourself. You have an idea and you think it will be successful. Now you need to develop your idea on a small scale and test it to see how valid your assumptions are before you make a large investment in time as well as money.

Today we’ll look at some steps you can take to develop and test your idea.

Develop your idea in 3 steps

Step #1 – Gather materials, information, equipment, samples etc.

You need to gather together everything needed to complete a sample of your idea. If you are a writer, you need samples of your work to show your writing skills. If you are into crafts, you need to gather your materials/supplies together. If you intend to open a store, you’ll need to find your supplier for the supplies you need. But most importantly, you need to be knowledgeable in your field of choice.

Step #2 – Create a systematic order

Put your materials, information or use your equipment in a systematic order to create a final product. You need to present your product in a package form that’s appealing to your potential customers/clients/friends. So how would you package your writing and position yourself in the writer’s market? Are you a fiction writer or inspirational writer? How could package your crafts? i.e. are you creative in making ladies hats? What type of hats would they be – casual hats or really fancy hats? How does your service or product differ from others selling similar product or services?

Step #3 – Price your product or service

Now it’s time to price your product or service. How much is your product or service worth? You need to take into account how much it costs for you to acquire the materials or equipment plus your time. In today’s market pricing of materials can fluctuate. You may need to change your pricing over time based on supply and demand.

Testing your ideas in 3 steps

Step #1 – Do your own research

Are there other businesses in your niche that are successful? How many other people are doing what you do? For example, as a writer if you were to go on Amazon you can research the bestselling books in your category. This is will give you an indicator of what’s selling on the market. Do you think other authors would be writing on this topic if it was not a hot topic? Look at what other businesses are doing and see what’s lacking in their services or products. What can you implement into your services or add to your products that would fill this void?

Step #2 – Use other people’s statistics

Many companies have invested thousands of dollars in research and provide statistics of their research as well. Statistics in your niche can uncover very important information for the structuring and positioning of your business. It can also show you the demand for your services as well as decline over the years for your type of service or product.

Step #3 – Create your own surveys

After you’ve created your first sample, talk to your potential customers and friends. Let them tell you how they feel about your product or service. Here’s an opportunities to prepare questions ahead of time like, “Would you use this product/service? How often would you use it? What is it worth to you and how much would you spend for it? Or how much would you spend to gain this knowledge? Surveys can actually open the door for better communication between you and your customer as well as understand their deeper needs and therefore position your product/service to satisfy those needs.

1) What topics usually grab your attention?

Some topics are more appealing than others. So with some observational skills you need to discover what topics you mostly gravitate to. How have they impacted your life? And what you do you see yourself doing in this area to contribute to the growth of others and the planet?

2) What do you feel passionate about? What do you love doing?

Do you love colors, painting? Do you have a thing about writing, expressing yourself through the written word? Do you love speaking and motivating others with stories, inspiration etc.? Are you creative with your hands? Do you love making crafts? Are you an organizer and love to see everything in its place?
Each one of these talents has a place in the enrichment of your own life as well as others. Don’t let your gifts lay dormant while you’re forcing yourself to do something that you despise. This will stress you out and you already know the negative impact stress has on the body.

3) What have you dreamed about doing when you were younger?

Don’t take your childhood dreams for granted; they come from the heart of purity and truth and that brings power into manifestation. When I was about 8 years old, I told myself that I’d be a teacher, work in an office and when I had my children I’d work from home so I could be home with my children instead of outside the home.

I’ve lived all of those dreams. I was young then but the purity of those dreams kept them alive throughout the years bringing each of them into reality. So go back and look into your childhood memory box and pull out those old dreams. Dust them off and allow yourself the opportunity to live them.

4) What hurts you deeply and you wish you could change?

Sometimes our life purpose is discovered among the ruins of our own inner pain. The pain you’ve suffered can be turned into a source of good for others along the same path. Some painful experiences could never be understood by others unless they’ve actually experienced them themselves. You not only have head knowledge but you have experiential knowledge and as such you can better relate to others. Many people have become advocates for certain causes because of their pain. Instead of becoming a prisoner of the past, become the one who opens the prison gates and set the captives free.

Small consistent ripples could make a big impact. So don’t underestimate the power of your small steps. You never know whose life you can change or save.
