Getting My Body Back Friday - How to Enhance Your Self-Awareness

When you enhance your self-awareness you can consciously create or recreate your life and move from a state of unconscious living. You begin to understand how you think, what you feel, become present and pay attention to what's going on in your life so you can make the necessary adjustments to create change and get the results you desire.

Stay present

Your thoughts and emotions influence the creative process. When you are present you become more consciously aware of what you're thinking and what you're feeling inside. In this state of mind you can consciously shift your thoughts onto something more positive that will influence your emotions and put you in a position vibration. Staying present empowers you. Inspiration lives in the here and now. Miracles happen in the now. When you are wrapped up with the past or the future you miss the power that staying present has available to you.

Observe and ask questions

Learn to become an observer of your own emotional state and of your reaction to situations and people. Ask yourself questions.

Why do I feel the way I do?
Why did I say that when that's not what I wanted to say or that's not how I truly feel?
Why did I react that way?
Why did I respond like that?
Why am I feeling irritated?
Why am I feeling this tightness in my head?

As you dig deeper into the soil of your own life you'll begin to discover the truth of you and uncover the hidden gems that lay dormant inside of you. As you go deeper, you'll find that you'll be pulling up all of the old fluff and unwanted energies that take up precious space and negatively influence your life garden.

Make the switch

Recognize your own power to change by making the mental switch. Once you are consciously aware of the thoughts and feelings you don't want you can shift your thinking to generate the emotions that put you into a positive vibration. You'll be able to do this at will each time until it becomes a habit. Repetition is the key to success.

What do I want?
What can I do differently?
How can I see this from a different perspective?

These are all questions you can ask to help you make the switch more effectively. If you find it emotionally overwhelming try using a method of distraction to take your attention off of what you're feeling. Draw your attention to something else that will help jolt you out of this state.

****By the way, if you have not yet signed up for the training program, Supercharge Your Self-Confidence, what are you waiting for? Christmas? It's already here and this program makes a great gift idea just for you!

If you're on the fence about this, it's time to make a decision to finally give yourself the chance to do something different with your life so you can experience the changes you want to make.

There are only 2 decisions to make:

1 - Stay where you are and continue on the path of frustration and limited self-belief ... and you already know where that has led you so far or

2 - Come on board the training and get the tools you need to make the different to completely banish low self-esteem, overcome inferiority complex - because you know that you are just as good as anybody else - and gain the self-confidence to step up and out of the mindset that's keeping you hostage.

The decision is yours.

Getting My Body Back Friday - What To Do When You Had Enough of Being Overweight

Tired of being overweight? When you look at yourself in the mirror do you dislike what you see or are you tired of feeling tired because of your weight? What do you do when you've had enough?

Use these tips as a tool to propel you to take positive actions.

You may feel the temptation to become depressed and as a result begin to eat in hopes of helping you feel better. But instead of giving into feelings of depression use this as a tool to push you forward into taking consistent action towards getting to your ideal weight. Getting mad with a determined mindset will help you get out of feeling sorry for yourself and into taking decisive action towards changing your life.

After my 5th child was born, I wanted to shed off those unwanted pounds. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't stand the way I looked. I began working out at a slow pace at first but found the results minimal. I got to the point of enough is enough and I was going to do what I can to get the weight off. So my disgust for what I saw pushed me into taking decisive positive action towards achieving my weight goal.

Start small and then take it up a notch

Starting small will get you into laying the foundation to build on, but don't become complacent. Build from there and take it up a notch. If you had not exercised for a while or if you don't have a consistent routine, start by doing some stretches each day to get you moving or start going for short walks. Don't stay there though, keep building on that - add some weight training to it, or use your body for resistance training - some squats, push ups etc. Do your research and keep growing from there.

Still not getting the results you want?

Tweak your system. Look at what you're eating and how much you're eating. Add more vegetables and protein to your diet. Keep evaluating and tweaking your progress.

Here are some questions to ask:

What can I change that will help me get closer to my goal?
What can I do today and each day that will bring me closer to the results I desire?

As you continue to ask these questions you'll be opening up your mind to receive more information that will help you create the results you want. Don't get into the comfort zone in your workout that's not being effective in getting you to your weight goal. Be prepared to take the risk to try something different that may make the difference in your results.

By the way, if you'd like to have a simple step-by-step process, a Life-Changing Map, to show you how to break through roadblocks and build the courage you need to leave your comfort zone and move towards your dream, then this is for you. Check out The Life-Changing Map to get more information to learn how to do this.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Overcoming Fear of Going Out Into Public Places Because Of Your Weight

Do you avoid going out in public places because you're afraid that people might judge you because of your weight? Is your fear keeping you trapped from exploring new places because you don't want other people to see you because of your size?

It's time to free your mind and free yourself. People will always have an opinion whether you're skinny or fat, short or tall, dark skinned or light skinned or anything else you can think of that someone can have an opinion on.

It is YOUR life and you must live it! How will you choose to live - in fear because of what other people think of you or in freedom, enjoying life like anybody else? What makes someone better than you? This is where you need to protect your head space and your heart space, silencing the outward voices that are trying to invade your life and allow the voice inside you to become louder.

How can you make this happen?

Let the beauty of who you are become your focal point and be confident in yourself. Develop this mindset each day and change the energy you're sending to your own body. When you go out into public places other people would feel your energy of confidence.

Here's a quote from Daily Word, Unity that I think will empower you to see yourself from a different perspective:

"NATURE

I am restored through my communion with nature.

Year-round, nature is the doorway to my restoration. Whether I am taking in the brisk winter air or the scent of spring, scouting out a summer picnic or hiking on a crisp fall afternoon, nature feeds my soul and restores my spirit.

I marvel at the sights, sounds and scents of each season, realizing that the same omniscient power that created such beauty also created me. I am no less amazing than the most spectacular sunset and no less magnificent than the rarest flower.

I look forward to moments alone in nature where I rediscover my oneness with God and the universe, gaining a new perspective, a quiet heart and a healthier outlook."

We never think of ourselves as being spectacular. When you see the awesome beauty of nature's mountainous regions don't you go ooh and aah in awe? What about the animals, the elegance of a giraffe? We shake our heads in amazement not realizing that the same power created us as well.

Here's an exercise you can practice today - every time you look at yourself in mirror, find something about you to ooh and aah about. You are worth it! The more you do it the more value you will see in yourself. The more you can appreciate you, the louder the voice in you becomes and you will be less concerned of the opinions of others when you go out in public places.

Make the mind shift now and truly live!

Is your low self-esteem and lack of of confidence keeping you from achieving your goals? You don't have to stay there. There's a solution - Overcome Inferiority Complex, 5+ Steps to Overcome Inferiority Complex and Build Self-Confidence. Get more details at:

Getting My Body Back Friday – How to Feel Good About Yourself In Spite of Being Overweight

Being overweight doesn’t mean you have to feel bad about yourself. That energy is counterproductive to your health. While you’re making progress towards your ideal weight you can feel good about yourself and appreciate your body at the same time. This life-giving attention invites waves of healing energy into your life.

Exercising and eating a balanced meal are important steps to shedding those extra pounds and you hear so much about that. But what about the more intangible aspects that affect us on a subconscious level?

You could be exercising and eating right and still feel indifferent to what you currently see in the mirror. And this negative feeling towards your body creates hindrances to enjoying your life on your journey to reaching your weight goals.

Let’s look at what you can do to shift your thinking so you can positively influence your emotions followed by your actions and then your results.

Ask yourself this question, “What can you begin to feel good about today?”

Feel good about yourself as you are thankful - bless your body

You are alive, you are here, it’s a new day and all is well. Breathe deeply; breathe in life-energy into your cells. See your cells becoming rejuvenated with every breath you take. See your blood being flushed and cleansed.

Take a great big stretch loosening the tension in your body and allowing the fresh breath to move through you, again as you breathe deeply. Give your body the attention it needs, your undivided attention.

Use affirmations to nourish your body

“You are beautiful. I love you. You are strong and healthy. You are full of life. I fill you with love, peace and joy.”

As you repeat these words see and feel the beauty in your body. See and feel the strength and health. See and feel the love, the peace, the joy and the life flowing into and through your body.

Doesn’t that feel good as opposed to the negativity you’ve been pushing into your body? Now, your turn; create some more affirmations that you can use every time you look at yourself in the mirror. You don’t have to be rigid about it; you can be spontaneous and add new ones each day.

Connect with your inner core

All life comes from the universal power, flows through your inner core and into your outer experiences. Connect now with your inner core and as you consciously allow the Presence of Unconditional Love to flow into you and fill your inner being, see and feel this energy emanating from within and expanding into all areas of your life.

So we're back at it again creating a new target date, January 1, 2012 and now we have all the children wanting to join in. Well all, except the 2 youngest ones lol.

The younger ones are working on building strength, working on their cartwheels and basically having fun at the same time.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Are These 3 Things Throwing You Off Track From Reaching Your Weight Goals? Here's What To Do Instead

On your journey to reaching your weight goal you may encounter many obstacles along the way. Some obstacles you can overcome very easily while others can really derail your progress and throw you off track. However, if you remain diligent you can quickly bounce back.

In this article, I'll outline 3 things that may take you off track and show you what you can do instead to keep you from either becoming derailed or to get you back on the road towards your weight goal.

#1 - Stress

Whether your stress is personal, family, work-related or otherwise, it can put a damper on your progress. Stress can lead to depression and other emotional issues and when the emotions are negatively affected it can result in overeating, loss of motivation and energy to workout.

Do Instead

Pay attention to what's going on around you. Know your stress triggers, release any tension - take a deep breath in and let it all out and regroup. Walk away from the situation if you can and shift your thinking onto happier thoughts. If you are quick to respond you can drastically reduce the effect of the stress and elevate your emotional vibration up and above your current stressed condition.

#2 - Misunderstanding the scale reading

Ever got on the scale expecting to see that you've shed some more pounds only to find out that you had not even budged since the last time you were on there? I know I have and it's such a discouraging feeling which can make you feel like you've done all of that work and still not getting the results you want.

But in reality, what's happening, if you've been committed to your workout, is that while you were focusing on weight loss you've been building muscles and shedding fat. At first this may not show up on the scale as an accurate measurement of your progress and here you're thinking that nothing is happening.

Do Instead

Use other forms of measurements as well to gauge your progress. I usually go by the way my clothes fit. I also take pictures in the same outfit to show my progress. I find these to be quite reliable and encouraging than using a scale.

#3 - Going it alone without any support

Trying to get to your ideal weight can be a lonesome journey if you're going it alone. Say you come from a family and also have friends that are overweight; it can be quite a struggle to create this change in your life. And when at first you seem not to be making progress and don't have that encouragement, you can end up right back at square one.

Do Instead

If you're the type of person that can keep yourself accountable and stay on track that's great. But most people, especially at the beginning of change, need someone to encourage them along through the early stages where they are most vulnerable to giving up.

Find a friend who's willing to work with you to help keep you on target. If you don't have anyone that can do that find a community group or go to the gym. I've had one of my daughters in the past help me out and boy did she ever keep me on my toes. I also use my articles as a way to keep me accountable to my readers. And now we have a family competition on to keep me even more diligent in reaching my goals.

By the way, if you'd like some help becoming self-empowered so you can reach your ideal weight goal and have someone help to keep you on track, I would like to invite you to claim your Free 30-Minute Self-Empowerment Coaching Session at

Getting My Body Back Friday - Can Using Healthy Competition be a Motivator to Reach Your Ideal Weight Goal?

Can a little healthy competition help you achieve your weight goals? What do you think? We're about to find out for sure.

My eldest daughter, Shenelle and I agreed to a competition to see who will lose the first 10 pounds by my birthday, September 18. Well the competition just got hotter as Dad and our second daughter Grace decided to join in.

Me - 10 pounds by September 18. We'll show before and after pictures then.

Shenelle - 10 pounds by September 18.

Dad's focusing on getting back his 'washboard' not that he has far to go but he's working on it.

Grace, the muscle girl, wants to increase her muscles. Grace had been my personal trainer in the past and is now working with Shenelle. Do you think Shenelle has the advantage here? How fair is that huh?

I'd say Shenelle's got some stiff competition here cause Dad and I are no push overs lol.

So we're off and working hard - walking, jogging, bike riding, weight lifting and eating tons of veges and drinking lots of water. Shenelle and I have taken measurements and well, the measurement tape will tell the rest of the story by September 18th.

I'm rooting for me lol. But it's a great motivator I tell yuh.

Hope you decide to join us and press forward toward your weight goal too.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Are You Mentally Sabotaging Your Health Progress?

Many of our woes come from the way in which we're thinking about our situation. Whether it's our health or reaching our ideal weight goal, if your thinking is off it will also throw off your efforts. We eventually sabotage our progress when we're harbouring negative thinking patterns.

So how do you identify sabotaging thoughts and how can you replace them with positive ones?

Pay attention to what you're feeling about your health and weight

Your feelings will show you if you're in a positive vibration, if you're feeling positive about your health and your weight. If you're feeling like you can't stand yourself, you can't stand the way you look; those are clear indications to show you that you are out of harmony of reaching your goal.

How can you change that?

Find something that you can feel happy about. Even if you started with loving your eyes or your smile, it's something that you can start with to help you begin to lift you into a place of appreciation and joy.

Pay attention to what you're saying?

When referring to your health and weight progress what are you saying to yourself and to others? Are you saying things like, "I'll never lose this weight" or "It's so difficult to lose weight," or "I'm always sick?" What you're doing is sabotaging your results because you're not declaring what you want but you're agreeing with your sickness and difficulty in losing weight. This is what you're sending out into the universe expecting to have a different result.

What to do instead?

Your thoughts and your words and actions all need to be in harmony with what you desire. So you'll be saying, "I'm getting better each day," or "I'm reaching my ideal weight goal easily and effortlessly." Here's one I've used in the past and use now combined with my visualization; "The excess fat on my body is melting off easily and effortlessly." I visualize the excess fat melting off.

Weekly Progress update:

My workout - Did interval training - interchanging between running and walking. Playing with the children.
I also added in my weight training to build strength.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Going With The Flow Of Your Body To Maximize Your Workout Efforts

When you're doing your workout routine are you listening to your body? You could be missing out on a lot when your mind is wandered off somewhere else or you're so focused on your reps that you're not in sync with your body.

As you pay attention to your body, becoming one in mind, body and spirit, you can feel when it's time to change. As you breathe in, filling your lungs with life-energizing oxygen, be conscious of the cleansing and rejuvenating breath as it goes through your body.

Listen to the signals your body is sending when you're overdoing it or when you feel good about your workout or when you need to intensify the move. Be present, not preoccupied with what's for supper or how much chores you must get done.

Remember you are a triune being - spirit, mind and body - therefore all three should become one even as you workout. Draw life-energy from the Great Universal Spirit into your spirit. Visualize that energy running through you healing and energizing every part of your body and enabling you to live a healthy lifestyle as you live your dreams.

In this mindset you'll find your workout routine more life-sustaining and enjoyable.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Laying the Foundation

After you've made the decision to get your body back to the size you desire you've got to lay the foundation in place. You never begin to build a house without a plan and after the plan has been made you need to lay a solid foundation which you will build on.

So how do you lay the foundation for your weight loss?

Foundation #1 - Decide your goal?

A builder has a design in mind before he begins to build a house and the blue print is the tangible expressive path to creating that design into physical manifestation. The builder can remove any kinks in his/her plans before actual building.

So when you set down to decide how much weight, fat, you want to get rid of, you need to also draft out your action plan to reaching your goal i.e. how much is your ideal weight goal and size, when you want to get there by etc.

Foundation #2 - Break down your action plan

Now you need to break down your action plans into smaller bite size; how much you plan to lose off each month, each week, each day and what work out you will do to achieve your goal - weight training, walking, jogging etc.

Now something I have to share here from my personal experience, I go by my clothes size. I've used the scale at other times but I find that it tends to be discouraging for me when I don't see the shift on the scale. Keep in mind that you may be building muscles and as a result you may not see so much of a shift in the scale initially.

I let the way my clothes fit be my guide and also let my eyes tell me what I need to know. Pictures are also a good way to keep track of your progress, a month from now in the same outfit will give you a good clue.

Foundation #3 - Chart/Review your progress

Set up a system in order to review your progress each day and each week. This way you can make the adjustments you need to keep on track. For example, what have you done today towards your goal? Did you stay with your plan, if not, why and what was the reason for not following through? You can catch a trend in things happening in your life and make plans to change them or work around them.

Go ahead and lay that foundation now.

My weekly progress - I've laid the foundation for my progress this week. Have you ever had a weird workout schedule? When we went berry picking I waited with the baby while she slept and as Dad and kids picked berries, I thought, here's a chance to get my workout in as the radio blasted out the music up in the mountains. Great way to keep away wildlife and work up a sweat, using my body as my weights.

How was your progress this week?

Getting My Body Back Friday - I'm Going All Out!

When I initially lost off the excess weight, it wasn't because I was focused on losing weight. I did that and what I got was more frustration than results. My whining and complaining only brought me stress, made me miserable and unmotivated to exercise. It was only after I did these three things that I began to see results.

Checked My Spiritual Connection

Who am I in relation to the Great Universal Spirit? I'm greater than my external appearance. My external appearance does not dictate how I see myself. I'm beautiful, my body is beautiful. At the time I had 7 children and I looked at what my beautiful body had created and I was thankful that my body sustained me all through these years. What could you be thankful for right now on your journey to your ideal weight?

Check My Mental Thought Patterns

I changed my thought patterns toward exercise. I totally despised working out. I got bored and frustrated very easily especially when I didn't get the results I wanted right away. I decided that instead of focusing on weight loss I'd focus on strengthening my body, having fun in what I did. All the while as I released all of that negative from my mind and shifted my thinking the weight started falling off.

Enjoyed My Physical Workout

I did weight training, interval training - interchanging brisk walking with jogging - gardening and simply having fun piggy backing the children and playing with them. When I got bored of my routine, I changed it and did something different which was also quite rewarding. The result! The weight started coming off and my target pants I wanted to fit into did actually fit me and zipped right up.

In March I gave birth to our 8th child and now I'm going all out once again to drop off the extra baby fat. The good thing as I look at the way my clothes fit, compared to last time, I had not put on as much weight as before. So I'll be using these same 3 steps to get back into all of my pre-pregnant clothes, while focusing on the right things such as having fun and being strong to reach my goals.

Each Friday I'll give a heads up on my progress. Join with me and let's go all out and Get Our Bodies Back!

Getting My Body Back Friday - Can Focusing On Joy Really Help You Stay Healthy?

If stress and frustration adversely affect our health, think of what joy can do. We face many daily challenges but we can overcome them if we choose to take our focus off of the stress and place it on the joy that lies within.

How can joy help you stay healthy?

Regenerates every cell within our bodies

Joy puts you into a positive vibration and therefore invites the life-giving energy which regenerates every cell within our bodies. You feel more relaxed and in this calm state of mind resolution to every situation comes.

Joy nourishes the body

Coupled with Unconditional Love, joy creates a barrier from the negative effects of adverse situations. Circumstances that would normally get you down you can approach from the heart of love and the strength of joy.

You're able to rest much better

When you're full of joy you're able to rest much better and being able to rest allows your body to rejuvenate giving you the extra boost you need to start each day with a fresh perspective.

Fuelling joy within makes you feel satisfied

When you're focused on illness or on being overweight or you're discontented with life there's that inner feeling of being dissatisfied. If you find yourself feeling hungry even after you've eaten, check your joy level.

Have you connected with the joy within? Are you longing for something deeper that you're trying to fill with physical food? Sometimes we try to fill the inner void with food and by doing this we find that we continue into overeating.

Each day fill up your joy tank by consciously connecting to and shifting your attention to feeling the joy within.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Are You Confident In Your Own Skin?

Has your confidence been shaken because of being overweight? It's time to take control and regain your self-confidence where you are right now.

For years I've been self-conscious because of my weight - you know, pulling my tummy in to make it look flatter, dressing in darker colours to hide the flaws. These in themselves are not all that bad and you should always try to look your best but for the right reasons and with the right mindset.

Is your being overweight affecting your interaction with others? Are you afraid to be seen in public? Then your self-confidence has been shaken. I'm not saying that you should stay where you are at an unhealthy weight, not at all. You should always be working toward reaching your goal but accepting yourself as you are right now on your journey to your ideal weight can boost your health and energy level and keep you from falling into a depressive state because of being overweight.

You can become comfortable in your own skin and loving every inch of you in the process. When you love someone don't you want to take care of them, do the best you can to help them and find a way to do so even if you don't see how right away?

The same mindset applies to your own body. You can comfortably love you; care enough to help your own body reach its ideal goal. Beating up on yourself is not being kind or loving and that behaviour is counter-productive to what you're trying to achieve.

What can you do right now?

1) Come out of hiding

Appreciate who you are, not because of your weight, you are much more than that, but because of your connection to the All-in-all, the Great Universal Spirit. Why? Because when you get to your ideal weight there may be more physical flaws that you may encounter, what then?

2) Walk boldly

Lift your head up. You've nothing to be ashamed of. Square your shoulders back and walk boldly and confidently. The energy you give off transmits to others around you. Embrace the energy of joy, of acceptance of you and who you are and allow others to bask in the warmth of your positive vibes.

3) Release your weight anxiety

Let go of the stress that comes with being overweight, the anxiety of wanting to lose weight - these are counter-productive. It is only when I shifted my attention from weight loss to having fun and being strong that I began to release the excess weight.

Find something in your workout on your journey that brings you great joy in this path and keep on in that direction. Keep enhancing the process as you go along and be comfortable in your own skin.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Take Charge With Spirit Guidance

This is an excerpt from Daily Word, Unity.

With Spirit as my guide, I take charge of my life.

I have all I need to create the life I desire through the power and guidance of Spirit within me. I take charge of my health by first affirming the truth of my being:

I am whole and perfect, physically and spiritually beautiful.

Next I take action in support of this truth by getting sufficient rest, exercising, and eating a balanced diet.

I take charge of my attitude by associating with people who are positive and uplifting and by looking for the best in myself and others.

I take charge of my success by accepting responsibility for my life and acting upon the wisdom of Spirit within me.

I take charge of my life by using the gifts of Spirit in life-enhancing ways. Spirit is my guide as I create the life I desire.

Getting My Body Back Friday - Overcoming Fear of Failure - Mindset #5

As a toddler, you were determined to walk and you were not willing to settle with just holding on to walking. You wanted to do more. You were determined to let go and walk without holding on. You wanted to run as well. You wanted to walk backwards even though your mother's heart was probably in her toes lol because she didn't want you to hurt yourself.

Be determined to be the best at what dream you decide to follow and when you master one level, go for the next and the next. Reach for the stars and keep going until you discover more galaxies you never knew existed in your own life.

This brings us to Mindset #5 - Be determined to reach your goal

Determination in the face of fear will penetrate any dark clouds that try to distort your path toward your goal. Determination has a way of giving you the courage to try once more, to get up even when you've fallen and lost your zeal.

If you're struggling for some time to achieve your health goals and you're beginning to feel fear of failure because you've tried so many times without success, keep pressing forward. Get determined in your mind. Don't settle for repeating the same things over and over if you want to get different results. Try changing your strategy. Mix things up a bit. Try something new. Turn within to find what works for your body type.

Some children before they actually begin to walk deviate from the status quo; they may push up on their hands with their bum in the air or some may drag themselves along on the bum - various methods to achieve the same results of walking.

What's your method to achieving your weight goal? Is it working? If not, add some variety, perhaps interchanging with some weight training or actually using your own body weight to add resistance to help build those muscles.

Whatever method you choose, be determined to get the results you want and don't stop until you do.
