Keys to Successful Living and Stress Management – Part 3

7 Ways to Be Yourself - Don't Work So Hard To Impress Others

Having trouble being yourself? Being yourself is a whole lot easier than being what you're not and a lot less stressful.

Trying to act other than who you are to impress other people takes more energy than it's worth. Because the people who you're trying to impress often change their minds leaving you scrambling to figure out what to do to impress them and at same time taking you further away from the authenticity of you.

Let's look at 7 ways use could use right now to be what you really are so you don't have to succumb to impressing others to feel good about yourself.

#1 - Schedule time for self-discovery

In order to be who you really are, you have to first know yourself and that means you need to spend time in self-discovery. We often set time aside for other less important events in our lives while the most important often takes a backseat. Find your strengths. Know your weaknesses and look for ways to strengthen them. Self-discovery is the foundation for your personal growth. You can build from there.

#2 - Change your perspective

You are great. Consciously identify yourself with greatness. No one is better than you so you don't need to impress others to feel good about you. You were already given the stamp of approval when you were created.

#3 - Appreciate you

Appreciate all of you, even those areas that you're not totally impressed with. For in accepting all of you, as you are, is where you find your freedom to explore and express yourself without looking for others to approve of you.

#4 - Connect inside to your truth

What is right for you? What is your inner spirit saying to you? This will come as you spend time in quietness with the Spirit. Spiritual development builds your confidence because you no longer depend on sources outside yourself for what you need. You have all the wisdom, knowledge, approval and everything else inside of you.

#5 - Be comfortable in your own skin

Relax in you. As you deepen your spirituality you’ll find that you become calmer. You struggle less with trying to impress others because you create a mental shift of what you consider as important.

#6 - Value other's opinion, but value your own as well

If you're in the habit of putting other's opinion above your own, even if you don't feel right about what they're saying to you, then you need to take a closer look at this behaviour and change it. What you think about your own life has equal value and even greater value than others.

#7 - Let go of your fear

Trust your inner guidance. Are you afraid that you may be wrong? In the process of developing trust to follow your inner guidance it is possible to make mistakes along the way. But don’t let that deter you from taking the stand to be confident in being you.

Getting My Body Back Friday - How to Feel Good About Yourself - Ways to Lift Your Spirits

You can lift your spirits in many ways in order to feel good about yourself. Whether you're feeling bad about your weight, your physical appearance, your level of education, your personal image or anything else, you don't have to allow these external things to dictate the way you feel about yourself.

Feelings can be changed by just shifting your perspective as well as your focus. So let's look at some ways you could use right now to do this.

Look for the beauty that's within you

We often look at other people's beauty in admiration - whether it's their physical or inner beauty or their personality. And that's okay. But we all have an inner beauty that's unique to each of us. And with the same admiration you have for other people's beauty, you need to look at your own beauty. In so doing, you'll begin to feel good about yourself instead of feeling down because the other person has something you wish you possessed.

Help someone

You energy level soars to a higher level when you help other people. The interesting thing about helping others is that you help yourself in return. The rewards are immediate as well as long-lasting. The seeds of your generosity grows forward way into your future and matures into abundant fruit in your life.

Do something creative

What's your talent? What do you enjoy doing? Do something creative - paint a new art piece, write a new song, create a story. Think of something that you can do well and then do it. Don't stop until you've completed it. You'll feel good about your accomplishment and about yourself. Who knows what other creative ideas might emerge in the process.

Express Gratitude

What could you be thankful for right now? You may not be at your ideal weight yet. You may not have the physical appearance you would have preferred to have or you may not have the education you wished you had right now. But you can still express gratitude for what you do have, which may be a whole lot more than what many others don't have.

Can't think of anything? How about being thankful that you're able to read this article for starters so you can begin to implement these strategies right away. And by the way, there are many people who are unable to read or don't have access to the internet or who cannot see to read even if they did have internet access.

Think about that for a second and be thankful for what you do have right now.

Exercise and eat well

When you workout you'll find yourself more energized throughout the day and the chemicals being released into your body will automatically begin to help you feel good about yourself. Eat a well-balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables - live foods - that will feed your cells. This not only helps you feel good physically but it will help you feel good emotionally as well.

One thought leads to another and builds on the initial thought. So what else can you do to lift your spirit so you could feel good about yourself?

Getting My Body Back Friday – How to Feel Good About Yourself In Spite of Being Overweight

Being overweight doesn’t mean you have to feel bad about yourself. That energy is counterproductive to your health. While you’re making progress towards your ideal weight you can feel good about yourself and appreciate your body at the same time. This life-giving attention invites waves of healing energy into your life.

Exercising and eating a balanced meal are important steps to shedding those extra pounds and you hear so much about that. But what about the more intangible aspects that affect us on a subconscious level?

You could be exercising and eating right and still feel indifferent to what you currently see in the mirror. And this negative feeling towards your body creates hindrances to enjoying your life on your journey to reaching your weight goals.

Let’s look at what you can do to shift your thinking so you can positively influence your emotions followed by your actions and then your results.

Ask yourself this question, “What can you begin to feel good about today?”

Feel good about yourself as you are thankful - bless your body

You are alive, you are here, it’s a new day and all is well. Breathe deeply; breathe in life-energy into your cells. See your cells becoming rejuvenated with every breath you take. See your blood being flushed and cleansed.

Take a great big stretch loosening the tension in your body and allowing the fresh breath to move through you, again as you breathe deeply. Give your body the attention it needs, your undivided attention.

Use affirmations to nourish your body

“You are beautiful. I love you. You are strong and healthy. You are full of life. I fill you with love, peace and joy.”

As you repeat these words see and feel the beauty in your body. See and feel the strength and health. See and feel the love, the peace, the joy and the life flowing into and through your body.

Doesn’t that feel good as opposed to the negativity you’ve been pushing into your body? Now, your turn; create some more affirmations that you can use every time you look at yourself in the mirror. You don’t have to be rigid about it; you can be spontaneous and add new ones each day.

Connect with your inner core

All life comes from the universal power, flows through your inner core and into your outer experiences. Connect now with your inner core and as you consciously allow the Presence of Unconditional Love to flow into you and fill your inner being, see and feel this energy emanating from within and expanding into all areas of your life.
