Having Trouble Letting Go of the Past?

If you're having trouble letting go of the past - past hurts, failures etc., then this article I found written by Ian Lawton really visually drives the point home and I hope it will help you to let go and move on with your life, who you were meant to be.

"Whether you are scarred by love, jaded by religion or beaten by circumstance, there comes a time to say “Enough!” and move on. You aren’t serving yourself or changing anyone else by holding on to anger. Rights and wrongs are beside the point now. It’s time to let go, let the past be what it was and move on. You can’t change what happened, but you CAN change what you are making it mean. You can change the story you tell yourself.

One of my favorite children’s stories is Grandpa’s Slippers. Grandma thinks it’s time to throw out Grandpa’s tattered old slippers, but every time she throws them out, he finds them because he loves his old slippers. Grandma is right of course. The time has come for a new pair of slippers. But on the other hand, Grandpa has to make his own choices about when to move on."

By the way, would you like to work with me, learn the steps to living a higher life, a more meaningful life with clarity and purpose and experience emotional healing?

Getting my body back Friday - Let go and trust the process

The ultimate challenge in achieving any goal is letting go and trusting the process to bring the results you're expecting. Many times I have to remind myself of this; feeling at times that I want to go from A to Z and skip the process - B down to Y. It is the B Y process where we build strength, stamina, character and integrity and the lessons we learn during this time are invaluable. These lessons could never be experienced at A or at Z, which are the beginning of any desire and the ending - the attainment of that desire.

If you're making a dress, you must go through the process. If you're building a house, you must go through the process, if you are writing a book, you must go through the process and in writing this blog post I must go through the process from the start, through the middle and then the end. There are no short cuts. Even if you someone bought you the dress, or built you the house, you still had a preparatory period before you even got it.

The alphabet is incomplete if you only have the A and the Z; no words are formed this way. As you work on your goal, when you've done all that you can do, relax and allow the process to work for you.

I've done all that is within my power to do - my workout, watching my food intake. Now, I must allow my body to do the rest - I must trust the process to get me to my ideal weight. I visibly see my body changing and patiently allow my body to reshape itself to manifesting my desire.

While we must be determined to achieve our goal, we must equally be patiently determined to let the process bring us to the finish line and disallow anxiety to hinder our progress.

Let go of the outcome

Tending the garden of the heart - Day 113

As we observed our garden, we took mental note of the plants that did well at harvest time and the ones that didn't do so well. Some plants, like our corn, started off great but didn't produce as well as we expected. They germinated really well but the actual corns were small.

One of the things we observed was that the plants we cared the most about didn't do as well as we had hoped and the ones that we just gave a try, like the Swiss chards, flourished in abundance.

As we compared our physical garden with our life garden, we noted that the things we let go the outcome of seemed to work out with such ease and effortlessly than those things we really desired and wanted badly enough. Only when we released the outcome and didn't hold on to them so much in our minds that we began to see our desires manifested.

When we hold on to things that matter the most as we try to make it work or cause it to happen, we are in control of the helm and we are not releasing it into the hands of God to work things out on our behalf. It is at that moment when we let go of the control and of the outcome that we see the results we desire manifested. When we hold on, we become disappointed when things don't work out as we planned.

We may not know all the different ways things can work out in our favour and we don't always know what is best for us. Therefore as the Spirit is our senior partner, we ask for what we desire, we make our decision and set our intentions but the final outcome and the timing of the outcome we release from our minds and allow the Universe to work on our behalf to bring about the best possible solutions or manifestation. You never know when something better is up ahead.
