5 Steps to Turn your Adversity into Positivity

From time to time, we all face some kind of a challenge which may make us wonder if we'll ever come through it.

You can turn your adversity into positivity if you choose to look at your situation from a positive angle.

1) Decide and choose your desired outcome

What is it you'd like you situation to be? Stop and allow your mind to be free of worry and choose your desired results.

2) Fix your mind on your desired outcome

Take the limitation off your mind. Don't allow despair and depression to set in. This builds hope and puts you in positive emotional vibration to receive your desire.

3) Daily fuel that desire with your emotions

As you turn your thoughts around in your mind, "What could I do about my situation?" inspired ideas begin to come to you.

4) Take inspired action

Once you receive the inspired idea, act on it. Don't delay. Just act on it.

Quote from Napoleon Hill - "There's guidance for each of us and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word."

Allow your mind to become quiet and listen for the inspired idea and act on it.

5) Be determined and persistent

When it seems like your desire is taking a long time to manifest, become determined in your mind and persistent in your inspired action until you see the results. A gardener continues to tend the garden day in and day out even though he may not yet see the harvest. He does what is required of him and at the right time the harvest comes.

What adverse situation do you face or have your faced in the past? How did you or how could you turn it into a positive outcome?

Keep your dream alive regardless of the obstacles!

Now that the season has changed, we've downsized and moved our outdoor garden indoors. Very small comparison to the huge garden, but enough to do what we want for the winter. Not because the season has changed means that we completely give up on our gardening endeavours.

Regardless of what you encounter in the pursuit of your dream, you can find ways to keep the dream alive in spite of the external conditions. When you are determined to succeed, creativity comes alive to make way for the manifestation of your dream. You may need to change the way you're doing things, you may need to work on a smaller scale, like our indoor garden. But small steps are better than no steps at all. As long as you keep the momentum going, even with smaller steps, you'll reach the finish line.

Instead of looking at your situation with despair, and focusing on what you've lost, look for a way to keep the dream alive. It may not be business as usual, like our larger scale garden, but you can still reap a harvest and enjoy the rewards of the work you've put into it. Had we not started an indoor garden, we would have to wait until spring to begin planting again. This way, during the winter, we could still enjoy having green onions, thyme and Swiss chard and be thankful for the daily harvest.

What could you do differently faced with adversity? What creative juices could you pull up on to get you through this time to help you keep your dream alive?

Are you an evergreen or an annual?

Seasons come and seasons change but evergreens remain green year round regardless of the extremes of weather conditions. From the harshest of winter's frigid temperatures to the hottest summer days, there green colour remain constant.

Annuals, however, are warmth loving and begin to lose their colour in their leaves which wither and die when the cold weather comes in.

Some people, regardless of what situations they go through - sometimes the extremes of life; from great happiness to severe adversity - somehow manage to maintain their zest for life. They refuse to allow the external conditions to dictate their behaviour or their self-worth. They continue to strive regardless of the adversities of life.

Some people are like the annuals, when situations are great, they're at their best; loving, flourishing, and as if they're on top of the world. But as soon as they face adverse conditions, they lose their vibrant colours, become dull, depressed and lose hope.

We all go through different seasons in our lives and our perspective and attitude towards these changes are what determines whether we're annuals or evergreens. We could like at life from the negative and become depressed and withdrawn or we could look for the positive in every situation, no matter the conditions, and experience the warmth of sunshine in the middle of our winter season.

When our hope and security is dependent on the depth of the Spirit and our connection to Spirit life, we know that our winter conditions will change, we stand strong and firm, we flourish regardless and we know that the summer will come again.

Look within to the spiritual Source of your strength, observe the wisdom of the Spirit and stay warm within your heart that your life will continue to flourish no matter the weather conditions.

Thank your way through disappointments

Tending the garden of the heart - Day 115

We began uprooting our corn stalks. The corn didn't do very well; they were very small and given the amount that we had planted and how they were growing, we really expected to have a greater and healthier yield. However, in spite of the size, the corns we harvested were very sweet. And for the first time ever, we've tried eating them raw. We've always had cooked corn; either boiled or roasted but never raw, and surprisingly, it was quite tasty. I've actually done a little research after this to see if other people are actually eating it raw and I come across some interesting recipes to try with raw corn as part of a salad.

Despite our disappointment with our corn, we're still thankful; thankful for the opportunity to be able to grow corn in the first place, the valuable lessons learned during this time and the opportunity to discover that we can actually eat them raw. In addition to this, we are very grateful that a lot of our other crops gave a good yield.

We could have continued to focus on our disappointment, but what good would that have done? We can't change the past; it's already done and over with. We're trying to find out why our crop was not a huge success and once we get the information then we'd be prepared for the next time we decide to grow corn again.

We learn from our errors and keep moving on. When we find ourselves dwelling on our disappointment, we shift our conversation and thinking and begin to be thankful for what we have now.

When we put ourselves in the mind frame of thankfulness, we are sending out positive energy to the Universe and we begin to attract that positive energy back to ourselves and open the door for the flow of the goodness of God's Spirit energy to move into and through our lives.

Thanking your way through disappointments causes you to see the good in the adversity and focus on the good that we still have in our lives despite the setbacks.

Turn adversity into a time of thanksgiving

Tending the garden of the heart - Day 114

Today, we harvested the remainder of our cucumbers and uprooted the vines. Some of the cucumbers were still young but we'd rather pick them now before the coolness gets to them further as it did with some of the small ones that began to turn yellow. The soil was turned over and a hole dug for the vines to become compost for next season.

When you begin to see progress in your life and you're faced with adversity, do the best you can with what you have and be thankful for the good times and for what you have left over. When you turn adversity into a time of thanksgiving and focus on the good that you still have in your life these adverse conditions will not be able to yank on your heart strings and keep you from moving forward.

As the seasons of your life change and adversity presents conditions that prevent you from completing what you were doing or continuing to do what you were doing, let gratitude be your mindset. Use the positive memories to prepare and nourish the soil of your heart until the danger of frost has passed and your season comes in again.

Over the winter we may use the garden area as a skating rink for the children.

Be open for creative ideas. Never rest in the valley of despair but look at every changing of the season as an opportunity for new beginnings and greater opportunities.

Thrive in the midst of adversity

Tending the garden of the heart - Day 110

The weather has gotten much cooler now, especially at nights, and its beginning to affect some of our flowers and vegetables. The larger squash are doing very well, but some of the young ones have turned yellow and are falling off the vine. The cucumbers in the main vegetable garden have given a great yield but some of the younger ones are also turning yellow. On the other hand, our 7 year old daughter had started her own cucumber garden and they are doing quite well, even the younger ones are holding up to the cooler weather.

Many of us handle adversity in different ways and our tolerance varies depending on the level of the severity of the adversity. When we face adversity, we begin to show signs of intolerance at our breaking point - frustration, annoyance, fear etc. But when the roots of our inner being are anchored deep in the soil of the Spirit, we become like evergreens; fresh, tall and strong regardless of the external conditions.

As we stay connected to our Source and allow the warmth of love to keep our hearts soft and tender, we begin to see and approach life differently. Whatever situation we encounter, we are not shaken because we know that we will come through. Therefore, we stand strong and patiently await the day when our outward experience has fully aligned itself with the inward favourable conditions of the heart. As a matter of fact, we find rest, peace and joy so that we can truly thrive in the midst of adversity.

Changing Inside Out Now! Getting my body back - Day 17

Turn adversity into opportunity.

Most people have been trained to look at adversity as something bad that’s occurring in their lives. It’s the time when depression and hopelessness sets in. But instead of looking at your circumstance from the glasses of doom and gloom, why not try a positive alternative?

What can you learn from this situation? What are the valuable lessons being taught here? What things have I neglected to deal with that has brought me to this point? How can I turn this around and use this adversity for something good?

I’m sure you’ve heard many testimonies from folks who have gone through terrible things and are now advocates for their cause. They’re educating others on prevention of some infection or disease. They’re inspiring others with their message of transformation from being homeless or broke and now they’ve broken free from a poverty stricken life. Some are now coaches and mentors for others.

These conditions of adversity were the breeding ground for them to rise to the top. Perhaps they, too, wallowed in self pity. But, obviously, they didn’t remain there. They cancelled the pity party, looked deep within themselves and found something greater than their circumstances that caused them to make a decision for change and propelled them into action.

There is more to you than your current external circumstance reveals. It is time to take a good look at where you are. Decide today to look at your adversity from a position angle and turn it into opportunity, not just for yourself only but for the benefit of others.

Fuelling words: I take this journey so I can inspire others to do the same. For myself and for those who hear my testimony, I persevere until I reach my goal.

Routine: Warm-ups, stretches, aerobics, toning and strength exercises, cool down.

Visualization - keeping focus on my goal; healthy, strong and my ideal body weight and shape.

Deep breathing - relaxes the muscles and sends oxygen to the muscles where exercising alone would not reach.
